WebP metadata removed and verified
EXIF and XMP chunks were removed. Image data and retained WebP chunks passed output verification.
How WebP metadata cleaning works
WebP uses a RIFF container. The cleaner removes EXIF and XMP metadata chunks and updates the container size and extended-header flags as needed. Image bitstreams are not decoded or recompressed; animation, alpha, and ICC profile chunks are retained.
Files are inspected and processed locally in your browser. Only WebP files are accepted; unsupported or malformed files are rejected rather than treated as clean.
WebP chunk handling
| Chunk | Action | Details |
|---|---|---|
| EXIF / XMP | Removed | Embedded image metadata chunks are removed. |
| VP8 / VP8L | Preserved | Compressed image bitstreams are copied without decoding or recompression. |
| ICCP / ALPH / ANIM / ANMF | Retained | Color profile, transparency, and animation chunks remain in the container. |
| VP8X / RIFF size | Updated | Container size and relevant metadata feature flags are updated as required. |
